Yarmouth DNR launches new patrol boat

YARMOUTH - Last Friday Morning at 10:30 a.m., the Town of Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources launched its new federally funded replacement boat at Bass River Beach in South Yarmouth. The brand new 29 foot full cabin outboard-driven aluminum hulled vessel is the same type used by the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs, and Border Protection and countless other agencies in the United States and worldwide. It is a proven platform for patrols, response, port security, law enforcement and search and rescue (SAR) in nearly any mission environment.

This new vessel will replace the aging patrol boat J49 and was completely built in America at the SAFE Boats International factory in Bremerton Washington, near Seattle, and was totally funded by a Federal Homeland Security Grant. This boat is fully outfitted with state of the art electronics’ combined with the stabile platform Safeboat is known for, this boat will provide a twenty first century resource that will provide improved search and rescue and enforcement capabilities.

The new Patrol and Emergency Response Boat will help our Division of Natural Resource Officers and Harbormasters, with support from the Yarmouth Police Department, protect, preserve, and manage the beautiful natural resources of the Town of Yarmouth and insure the public safety on the water for all residents and visitors for many years to come.
