Bill of Materials Technician - BOM Tech

Status: Non-exempt

Summary:

Create and maintain documentation pertaining to a new and existing product Bill of Material (BOM) for SAFE Boats International, LLC's manufactured products.  Ensures that the BOM is complete and accurate at the time of Production Release/Start of Production. Develop strong knowledge of BOM, purchasing, manufacturing and IS systems. Develop a good working knowledge manufacturing systems and processes. 


Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating lists of materials as detailed by the design of a Vessel and its systems
  • Work with Program Management to define content and costing for new boat designs and derivatives
  • Consult with project personnel to ensure compliant parts are defined and utilized in the modeling, specification and subsequent prints
  • Create and maintain documentation related to new and existing Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Ensure that the BOM is complete and accurate at the time of Production Release/Start of Production
  • Maintain Data in an electronic format
  • Develop strong knowledge of BOM, purchasing, manufacturing and IS systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience managing a multi-level equipment BOM for a multi-disciplinary project
  • AC and DC marine generators
  • U.S. Navy construction requirements for High speed aluminum vessels
  • U.S. Navy Weapons Communication, surveillance, Data and Navigation systems used on Small craft
  • Knowledge and understanding of 12 and 24 volt Marine Electrical systems
  • Knowledge of marine navigation systems
  • Configuration and installation of Marine Diesel systems for propulsion and power
  • Configuration and installation of Water Jet propulsion systems
  • Installation and rigging of outboard motor propulsion systems
  • Proficiency or Experience working in the Expanded Ships Work Breakdown Structure (ESWBS)
  • Small arms ballistic systems and materials
  • Marine Coatings and finishing
  • Marine HVAC, plumbing and lighting systems, parts, components and resources
  • ABYC recommendations
  • Experience with ERP / MRP Systems
  • Experience with AutoDesk Design Suites including AutoCAD and Inventor

Required Experience & Education:

Associate or Technical Degree; Over 4 years of related experience in a marine industry in the design and/or production of High Speed water craft and or their required systems and sub systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires use of computer, telephones and other office equipment, reading, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Position also requires ability to work in and around boats from the beginning of production through on the sea trails. This includes mobility to work in and around incomplete aluminum hull structures.
  • Ability to lift packages, equipment, etc. up to 50 lbs.
